Your Appointment with us

Divorce and family law solicitors in Richmond Upon Thames and Windsor

If you would like to discuss how we may be able to assist you please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a non-obligatory first meeting. We are here to help and guide you through any questions, concerns, uncertainties as to where you stand and what you should do next.

We are happy to discuss matters briefly over the phone in the first instance but do feel it is important to have a virtual or face to face initially meeting to enable you to meet us and so we can discuss your matter together. However, we understand it may not suit everyone to meet in person and we are happy to conduct first and subsequent meetings virtually via Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp.

We can offer in person meetings, by appointment, at our Richmond and Windsor offices or at a mutually convenient location within those areas.

What we will need from you

Information about your situation

Prior to any first meeting, we will ask you to provide some details either via email or through a link we will send to you to complete.  So far as applicable to you, we will ask you to provide us with key dates about you, your partner, your children, your relationship together with details of your assets or any arrangements in place for your children.  You can provide a broad overview of the particular issues you are facing or those in which you feel you need guidance and advice.

Providing this information beforehand enables us to prepare and best utilise the time at the first meeting to provide you with the information and advice you need to feel empowered and informed to move forward.

Instructing us to represent you

If you decide to proceed with instructing us following your first meeting, we will need to provide you with documentation confirming your instructions and our terms of business.   It is also a common requirement for most laws firms to request written confirmation of any instructions from you together with monies on account of costs to enable us to begin to undertake work on your behalf.  The amount we will request will depend on the initial work to be carried out and will be discussed with you at the first meeting.

Compliance

In order to comply with current money laundering regulations and our professional obligations, we must also request certain original documents to verify your identity and your address which include:

  • Current signed passport
  • Photo-card driving licence
  • Benefit book
  • A recent Council Tax, gas, electricity or other household bills

If you are unable to supply two of the above we will discuss with you how best to provide verification as to your identity.
